Tohoku Internship Project 2018 Celebration at Hylife Pork Table

March 9 (Friday) is the last internship day for the high school students participating in this year's Tohoku Internship Project. To celebrate the conclusion of their internship, we are having a party at the stylish Hylife Pork Table restaurant in Daikanyama.

The party will feature a delicious buffet with unlimited drinks (vegetarian options will also be provided). 

The main purpose of the party is to gather everyone involved in the project together and to give the students the opportunity to share their experiences of the internship.

Event Background

Since the beginning of the Trump administration in January 2017, Japanese companies have been closely following developments in North American infrastructure markets. Many seminars focusing on North American infrastructure have also been held, sponsored by JBIC, JETRO, law firms and others. However, although these seminars have nominally been focusing on "North America", in reality the focus has been heavily on the United States. This seminar aims to bring Canada back into the picture.

Well, we just borrowed a bit of inspiration from the computer programmer events of the same name where people with a common interest (company, club, project) get together for a few days, roll up their sleeves, and see what they can accomplish in a very short time. They are also a great chance for people who don’t meet day to day to network, share their thoughts, and have some fun together.

The CCCJ is proud to announce that for the first time the CCCJ will be participating in the popular Inter-Chamber Ski Race. In 2018, the participating chambers include the German, Swedish, Swiss, Norwegian and Belgium/Luxembourg chambers, and the main organizer Austrian Business Council and the Japan-Austria Society.

Ski, snow, fun, race, family and friends – the key words for the event are the same as usual!

We are pleased to have Mr. Carlos Leitão, Quebec's Minister of Finance, as our first speaker in 2018!

Carlos Leitão holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from McGill University. For over 30 years, he worked in the banking and financial services industry, including for the Royal Bank of Canada, and later for Laurentian Bank Securities, where he was chief economist. He sat on the management committee and the risk management committee of the Laurentian Bank for several years. He was also a member of the Bank of Canada’s Québec Panel.

This is the GDM Committee's first event, starting with a presentation from our committee chair, Ms. Akiko Kosuda, followed by a group discussion. GDM committee is a CCCJ's newly established committee, upgraded from Gender Diversity Round Table. Over the next 3 years, the GDM committee will host a series of speaker sessions, to help participants develop a better understanding of the diversity in the workplace.
