Joint Declaration by the Ministers of Trade of Canada and the Republic of Korea

The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, and Yoon Sang-jick, South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Energy and Industry, today issued the following statement:

"We hereby recognize and celebrate the successful conclusion of negotiations toward the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement. We are committed to finalizing the legal review and required domestic procedures expeditiously, with the mutual intention that the Agreement will enter into force as soon as possible.

"The Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement is a signal achievement that will unlock the full potential of our bilateral economic relations and provide greater opportunities for economic cooperation in areas of mutual interest. We commit to working together to translate those opportunities into shared prosperity and to build a new era of mutually beneficial bilateral economic relations between Canada and the Republic of Korea."
