Canadian Energy Round-up ・カナダエネルギー・ラウンドアップ

11月25日、在日カナダ商工会議所は,国際石油開発帝石株式会社、シェブロン、ＴＭＩ総合法律事務所、在日カナダ大使館の寛大なご支援のもと、カナダでのエネルギー業界の時事問題、主に液化天然ガス〔ＬＮＧ〕についての特別会議を開催致しました。イベントには、先住民達の関与、最近のテクノロジー開発、日本の買い手視点、ブリデッシュコロンビア州ＬＮＧ所得税の影響に関する、業界問題の専門家をゲストスピーカーとしてお招きしました。この他に、カナダからのスピーカ達による、北米、またはＬＮＧパイプラインが無い場所でのＬＮＧ運送と貯蔵法の最新テクノロジーについてのプレゼンテーションも特集しました。

日本側のＬＮＧと他種エネルギー使用者１３０人に、ＴＭＩ総合事務所で行われた会議と六本木ヒルズで行われたレセプションへご参加頂きました。

日本は、最大のＬＮＧ輸入国です。カナダは、世界で５番目に大きい天然ガス生産国であり、また各自の力を高める為に努力しているＬＮＧ供給国の一つであります。日本市場へのＬＮＧポテンシャル供給者として、カナダの最大の強みは、資源的な大きな可能性と、環太平洋地域を隔てての便利な市場アクセスを備えている事、また、信頼性と安定性のある供給者である事です。また、両国の供給・購入関係は、ナチュラルリソースカナダ(NRCan)と、独立行政法人石油天（JOGMEC）が、最近署名した相互的な合意により、さらに強まっています。

カナダは、日本の重大なＬＮＧ供給者になる可能性を備えています。在日カナダ商工会議所は、これからも日加ＬＮＧ関係発達の最前線にあり続け、またその進展を、カナダエネルギー・ラウンドアップのようなイベントを通して促進し続けます。

On November 25th, the CCCJ in collaboration with, and with the generous support of, INPEX, Chevron, TMI Associates and the Embassy of Canada, held a special afternoon conference dealing with current issues in Canadian Energy, with a focus on LNG. The event featured expert speakers on industry issues including: First Nations’ participation, the Japanese buyer perspective, and the impact of British Columbia’s new LNG income tax. Additionally, speakers from Canada presented on new technologies for transportation and storage of LNG throughout North America and elsewhere where LNG pipelines do not exist.

130 representatives of all major Japanese end users of LNG and other energy sources participated in the conference at TMI Associates and in a reception following at the Roppongi Hills Club

Japan is the world’s largest LNG importer. Canada is the world’s fifth-largest natural gas producer, and it is one of many LNG supplier countries working to bolster its capacity. As a potential supplier to the Japanese market, Canada’s strengths lie in the fact that it is a reliable and stable supplier, with large resource potential and convenient market access to Japan across the Pacific basin. The supply and buy relationship between these countries is further bolstered by a bilateral agreement recently signed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC).

Canada has real potential to become a significant LNG supplier to Japan. The CCCJ will continue to be at the forefront of developments in the Japan-Canada LNG relationship, and will promote the development of this relationship through events like the Canadian Energy Round-up.
